About this newsletter
This is where I write about technology, privacy, the open web, and whatever else catches my attention. Sometimes that means resisting enshittification, sometimes it's just nerding out about interesting tech, sometimes it's light ranting about the state of things.
I started this newsletter because I wanted a place to write that I actually control. It's self-hosted, in the EU, on servers I pay for. No platform owners, no content policies written by lawyers, no venture capitalists. Just me writing whatever I want.
I post quick thoughts on blog.lindegard.xyz/blog/ and blog.lindegard.xyz/blogg/ (Norwegian). These are independently federated as well.
Straight to your inbox and all access
If you sign up, you'll get new posts delivered directly to your email. No feeds to check, no apps to open, no dark patterns trying to keep you scrolling. Just the stuff I write, when I write it.
You'll also get access to everything I've published here - your own little archive of technological grumbling and the zeitgeist in general.
You can also read the latest articles by following me on the Fediverse at @me@aron.social (English account) or @datagreier@oslo.town. It even exists as an Onion site (Tor network). But to make sure you get the full content, email is your best bet.
Fresh content, delivered
Stay up to date with new content sent straight to your inbox! No more worrying about whether you missed something because of a pesky algorithm or news feed.
Why subscribe?
Because email is one of the last decentralised protocols left standing. Except for the Fediverse but I know most of you won't be joining it. Yet. Because you deserve to control what you read, not let an algorithm decide for you. And because supporting independent voices keeps the internet from turning into a complete corporate wasteland.
No community bullshit, no marketing speak. Just honest writing about tech, privacy, and how to stay human in an increasingly dehumanising digital world.
Start your own thing
I use Ghost because it's open source, and their business model forces them to reinvest in the technology. I can self-host it, which means even if some USA company decide to threaten me with cease & desist letters or whatever, I'll simply ignore them. If they want to come at me with legal bullcrap, they have to go through Europol, or Norwegian or Lithuanian police. I think.
Ghost also allows you to migrate whenever you want. There is no lock-in whatsoever. So if it against all odds gets enshittified tomorrow, you can just move on to wherever you want.
So, I actually recommend Ghost. Like, for real. Get started for free and set up your very own subscription business using Ghost, the same software that powers this website.
